Hello! Let me introduce myself really quick and then we can dive in to this blog post! My name is Emily and I am a law enforcement officer's wife! I have a dog named Bailey and am currently a few weeks away from the arrival of my first born (a little girl!). I'm so touched for the opportunity to share some farm dog tips with you on this amazing blog, and I hope you enjoy! If you would like to check out my website, just visit Touchofblueandmakingdo.com!
DIY Healthy Dog Treats
I have yet to meet a dog that turns down food. If your dog is anything like mine, he or she often will find trouble in an attempt to satisfy her food cravings! While I do tend to spoil my own dog with people food every once in a while, it is nice to know that there are healthy dog treat options out there!
This treat is one that is super easy to make and it's likely that you already have both ingredients laying around the house! I found this recipe from PrettyFluffy.com.
Dog treat (optional)
All you need to do is cut out the center of your apple (apple seeds are bad for dogs!) and fill it with peanut butter! If you want to add an extra challenge, feel free to hide a little dog treat in the middle!
Natural Shampoo Bath
There have been some interesting articles published recently describing horrors of some cheap/discounted dog shampoos. While I'm not one to spend a lot of money on something as simple as dog shampoo, I have found one particular brand that smells great, works well, and is made from all natural ingredients!
For around $5 a bottle, this Burts Bees dog shampoo (buy it here) is hard to beat! You can definitely find it on Amazon, but I’m sure that you can find it at any local pet store
DIY Denim Dog Toy
My dog loves toys, but tends to chew them up within a few hours! Any outdoor toys that we've given my dog have also ended up dirty or lost somewhere. I recently found an awesome DIY dog toy from notinggrace.com that you can make for free!
All you need is an old pair of ripped up jeans and some creativity! Create braids or knots out of the old part of jeans and throw it to your beloved farm dog for hours (hopefully days) of free fun!
Give Them Love
At the end of the day, the thing your dog wants most is to feel loved! Even if all you have time for is five minutes of cuddles, playing, or spoiling, this quality time with your dog means the world to them! I've seen dogs that lack good relationships with their owners simply because they don't receive the attention they need. I encourage you to make this time for your dog and watch the difference it will make in your dog's life!
