This year the big event starts on Monday, July 16 at noon Pacific/ 3 PM Eastern, and continues until 8:59 PM Pacific/ 11:59 PM Eastern on Tuesday, July 17. I save up my “needs” and “wants” list for weeks beforehand, especially for my horse-related items. (Okay, most of those are “wants” but I hold on to my tack forever, so I always consider my purchase an investment.) Amazon Prime was a lifesaver when I lived in a small Montana town, two hours from the closest big box store. Free two-day shipping meant that I didn’t have to wait two weeks to get whatever I forgot on my trip to the city. Even though I have moved back to civilization I still order from Amazon once a week or so. The prices are great (even better on Prime Day!) and so is their selection. Not a Prime member yet? You can sign up on Prime Day! I signed up for the first time on the very first Prime Day and it was a great decision. I use my Prime benefits beyond free shipping all the time. Daily even. Sign Up Here. Why Buy Equine Items on Amazon? Until a few years ago, I bought all of my tack and riding apparel at local tack stores. While I loved getting my hands on the product first, it also meant that I was limited to whatever the store had in stock. Over the years I found some brands that I love, and I am completely comfortable buying those online. I only recommend brands in this blog that I have tried and that have served me well, so you can rest assured that what you buy is quality. The equestrian world has a lot of cheap Made-In-China junk, and this tack is a waste of your money and sometimes dangerous. You can find many quality, well-known brands on Amazon, and Prime Day is the perfect time to buy. It’s also a great time to stock up on the items you know that you will need – joint supplements, hoof oil, treats for the barn dog. Think beyond equestrian items too! Back to school is coming and Amazon is a great source for school supplies, clothing, and tech gear. It’s “Black Friday in July” and so much fun to hunt for deals! How to Shop Prime Day 2018 Not all items will be on sale at the same time, and not all items will be on sale for the entire event. Some items have a limited number available, so, when you see a deal, jump on it! Amazon does not reveal most of their deals until Prime Day, so you will have to do some searching. To avoid falling down the rabbit hole and spending more money than you have budgeted, make a list of what you want to buy and stick to it. If what you want is not on sale, do not feel bad about not buying it. Although Prime Day is the big day for sales, I find markdowns and deals on Amazon year-round. Deals Available Now Already a Prime member? Amazon has deals available now! Echo Show is marked down $100 to only $130. If you are creating a Smart Home, this is a great foundation piece and an amazing deal. $1 for Three Months of Kindle Unlimited. I love to read, and my Kindle Fire is always close by (it is also toddler-proof with its Incipio case. Mine has survived a year of being handled by a 3 year old, two plane trips, three road trips, and so many falls out of the truck that I’ve lost count. This is a durable product and I highly recommend it! You can buy Kindle Fire here and the Incipio case here) After the first 3 months, Kindle Unlimited is still a great deal at $10 per month, and you will be billed unless you cancel. Do you need a Kindle for your new Kindle Unlimited account? Kindle Paperwhite will only be $80 on Prime Day (regularly $119.99). You need music while you ride, and you can get four months of Amazon Music for only $1. This gives you access to 40 million songs. The right song keeps you pumped up and moving during your ride (or while cleaning stalls). After the first four months, Amazon Music is $7.99 per month and you will be billed unless you cancel. What I Am Buying
Amazon has not revealed all of its deals yet, but like I said, I have a list of “needs” and “wants.” All of these items are great deals anyway, and I have my fingers crossed that I will get an even better deal on Prime Day!
Wait for Prime Day Is Prime Day all that Amazon advertises it to be? They definitely have good deals, especially on Amazon-brand items. Some items only have a limited quantity available and I have been disappointed in some items that I’ve missed, but I have also scored some good deals. Everything on my list is a great bargain on Amazon anyway, and I will be happy if I get an even better deal on Prime Day. What is on your Prime Day list this year?
